Rafael “Rafi” Rivera has been an amateur boxer for over 10 years.  He has participated in 17 boxing matches and over 20 exhibitions.  After competing in the Golden Gloves for the first time in 2012 in the 178 pounds weight class, he was the 2013 Central New England Novice Golden Glove champion in the 165 pounds weight class. That same year, he was also a New England Semi Finalist. 

Since then, he has taught hundreds of people boxing, also known as the “the sweet science.”  His clients have ranged from ages five to 80.  He believes that boxing training helps people maintain healthier lifestyles.

He is now the proud owner of Rock Steady Boxing Nonantum.  Rock Steady is a globally recognized program that helps people living with Parkinson’s disease.  It has been proven to slow down the progression of the disease.

Rafi is also an aspiring Wellness Coach.  He has a degree in psychology.  He believes in a holistic approach to personal training. He helps his clients to achieve a healthier lifestyle through nutrition, incorporating a mindfulness practice, and tailoring his approach to meet their fitness and wellness goals. 

Rafi is a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT). 

About Rock Steady Boxing
Rock Steady Boxing (RSB) is a national, non-contact boxing style fitness program that can improve strength, balance, flexibility, power, and speed for people with Parkinson’s Disease (PD). Recent studies show that this type of intense exercise may be “neuro-protective” and can help slow down the progression of PD symptoms.
